Faye Kaucher Bell is an Atlanta-based artist with a creative vision inspired by the natural environment.
Her process begins with curiosity. An initial spark of inspiration provided by an element of nature is usually the catalyst to an industrious period of visual exploration. Through repetition and experimentation she is able to distill colors and patterns that essentialize the natural structure serving as her muse.
What emerges from the refined, intuitive application of these systems is work that celebrates the tension of organized chaos found in the natural environment. Additionally, the personal significance of the work is revealed to her over time through the meditative nature of the process. For example, in the methodical application of the echoing, colliding curves of her agate series she feels herself illustrating her experiences with how time and space for reflection (or the lack thereof) have determined her ability to find tranquility and move forward after periods of discord.
Like the natural world, Faye's work is ever-evolving as she moves from one generation of an idea to the next.
